Submission Guidelines

Unsolicited General Submissions:

Mystic Soul Press is a publishing project of The Mystic Soul Project, a 501c3 nonprofit focusing on POC-centered spirituality, activism and healing. We are seeking to publish a minimum of 2-4 projects a year - depending on the length of projects and cost projections for publication it can be double that in a given year. We’re looking for novels, memoir, creative nonfiction, hybrid and inventive works, children and young adult works, graphic novels, art-based works, story, essay, and poetry collections.

Mystic Soul Press publications are diverse in style and subject, but we are focused on POC (people of color) & QTPOC (queer & trans people of color) authors, who often have limited to no access to large or traditional publishing houses. We also give priority to works which center one or all of our areas of focus: spirituality, activism and healing. That said, we are open to all varieties of content and material so feel free to send works that might not appear to fit into those areas of focus, as well.

With your submission, be sure to include:

  1. A cover letter that briefly describes the work and the author’s background, lists any publication credits if applicable, and explains why the work is a fit for Mystic Soul Press. Make sure the cover letter has your contact email & phone details.

  2. A brief synopsis of the work of no more than two pages in length.

  3. The work itself. Writers may submit either the full manuscript or a sample of between 20 and 30 pages. Please keep in mind that full manuscripts take longer to review. All manuscripts should include page numbers on every page.

Please include all parts of your submission in a single PDF.

Given the high volume of submissions we receive, please expect a response time of three to six months. We appreciate your patience. Emails will not speed up the process, and are strongly discouraged.

Mystic Soul Project has an annual theme for our conference gatherings and the theme for 2020 is "SAVOR." Beginning in 2020 we will be creating an annual anthology of writings around and about the year's theme from POC & QTPOC creative voices.
